#1-A/36b.

I am called man. Simple and true, but still I need to know I am no more and no less. I am simple and complex, lost and found, most days. I know nothing what it means to be old and I have forgotten what it means to be young. I have been to the ocean and to the Mississippi. I was born at the place that affects such a mighty river, I am the river. I have two sides, a Washington and a tail. I am at my best times a Huckleberry and at my worst a politician. I am the same as the old dog dancing for his treat and loving as a cat wet from the rain. I long to be with; the saints, the musicians, the angels, the farmers, the hero, the warrior, the millionaire, the billionaire, the rich, the poor, the honest, the tried and true, the tired and huddled masses, the French and British, both the West and the East, the mouse and the cat, and the voice that I hear in the winds. Alas, none can be these, maybe one or two-thirds but none can be all. So then I will set out to be neither. I shall set out to be like you and if ever I get to be the shadow of that, I will say that I am whole.

new project in the works

Hey friends,

I am listening to the guitar and scratch vocals of my new project, Love is in the air on this project. Really different from my Death and Taxes. The way that I see it is that Love and Death are the two things that you can never separate yourself from them. I am excited about this new project and I hope that I can find a marriage of the two for one full project for you. This is going to be one step forward for my music, I will have more then just me on this project. I am adding drums, bass, piano, and maybe something extra. We are all really hoping to make something you guys are really excited about. I hope to hear from you soon at future shows 8)

Web VS Work

Hey friends! Just had a second to drop a friendly card in the mail box. So anyone interested, or caring I have a website managed by me and a friend at this current time. We are working on a full length project (more of a website) but that is a work in progress. Check it out sometime, www.kevinmasch.com, now those of you who know me and know that I currently work at Starbucks might think "Hey, that jerk is just stealing Starbucks layout." I have to say to you, HEY YO, YOU AINT NO FRIEND OF MINE... and then calmly state that I had come up with the burlap sack idea long before the Bux came out with their burlap idea. True it was released after they rolled out their promotion but due to "hang ups" I was unable to unleash the beast before the bux.

In the end it's no big deal but, I thought it was funny more then anything. Nashville is getting warmer, it was cool the last couple of days and it was wonderful!! Bring on the rain and the wind that's what I have to say. Hope the weather is treating you well and your allergies aren't wrecking havoc on you. Lots of love friends,

Kevin

update for April 14th.

Yay, going to record today, main focus is recording guitar for my song "Last Will and Testimony"; I've done this once before however it all got erased. I've been writing and booking show the last couple of days; both are fickle things however both things needed to succeed if you want to be a rambling singer-songwriter man. The heat in Nashville has gone up, Spring sprang and has left me with a hang-over, and finally summer seems like it's almost over. I have always thought it weird working in retail, you are planning for the next big holiday, always for the next season... well music life is very similar. I'm always planning for a few months ahead. I guess that's one thing I didn't plan on when I took on this booking music life, oh well, it's still good. I have been able to book shows, been asked back, and made new friends... now it's time to try to grow all that. I will try to make things grow by recording, writing, recording, playing, writing, playing, playing some more, and finally recording and writing. So hopefully things will move quickly and easily tonight. Wish me well, sending my love to all you folks.

Picnic Parks and Party Pantries

Today for dinner we had a Picnic in the park. B and the K Maschines hung out on a wonderful Spring evening, soaking in the life giving views and the reasons to keep kicking. I had a good day at work, a good friend came back from Vacation and ended it with a great Dinner and wonderful night with Lost and finally Songwriting.

I guess for me everything brings itself to songwriting. I don't believe you write in a bubble, you take from your 5 minute break you had 12 hours earlier as well as what you read and what you see around you. I think that is why I write about whatever. I think if those few out there that dare to read my ramblings are reading to get to better understand me. I am my songs and my songs are me, even if I don't know what I write about. I think the question needs to be do you do your art because it is what you are, or is it because it is what you are becoming? I find myself becoming more then being, I write songs that mean nothing or are just jumbled up thoughts in my head but eventually they mean new and clearer things to me. However I can't write without being at the right place. I can't have written a song like "Beauty" when I wrote "Angel of Sanity" or the even older "Love Long Friends". I am becoming new and so my songs are becoming new. The great Advantage I have that other people don't have is that my media is always changing. I can always change my words live, true Albums solidify but lyrics aren't things that can't be changed. When I make a paint stroke it is a little more lasting, as a songwriter/performer of my songs I can be a little more liberal. Any how I just wanted to ramble on for a second. I wanted y'all to know I had a fun day with Koola and B and wrote some songs. Now I am off for some sand dreams and ocean tides.

Peace and love,

K Masch
